These sweet li’l buddies are helping each other get prepped for the holidays . . . I love loVE LOVE when a darling image takes up enough presence on a card that I don’t have to ponder or agonize about how to combine and layout a card design—All Wrapped Up is the answer to that wish, at least for me, anyhoo!

Ya’ know, those Essential Arches dies are actually PERFECT for making tall snow-globe windows for shakers and/or card fronts—this is a simple window card (clear plastic is sandwiched between the car front and an additional die cut panel so you can peek through). The sentiment beneath is revealed when you open up the card . . . It’s just so sweet, I can’t even . . .

A word to the wise, tho—do all your white paint spattering BEFORE doing anything else; it needs a little time to air-dry before you start die cutting into it and assembling all your pieces. Ask me how I know . . . (chortle). However, if you’re in a hurry, take a clean paper towel and press it down carefully over top to soak up any excess paint droplets.

My paint spatter method:

  1. Squeeze a little white acrylic paint onto an acrylic block. It doesn’t take all that much so don’t get crazy.

  2. Squeeze a little water at a time from your waterbrush into the paint and mix it right on the block until you have a consistency you like.

  3. Hold the acrylic block over the area you want to spatter and use your paint brush to flick it off the block down onto project. Repeat until you have all the spatter you want, then set it aside to dry.

All Wrapped UP also works lovely for tags—GAAAH!!! All the heart eyes! If you love to layer your tags, that skinny one, combined with the sentiments in the Tag It Set are perfect for doing that—anything that makes mass production easier gets 5-stars from me because I’m always last-minute Lucy at getting things wrapped so I tend to keep tags pretty minimalist. Do you like making tags? My daughter is not a card maker, but she does enjoy making tags for holiday gifts.

EBE SUMMER OF STAMPING RELEASE 3 NOW LIVE

SOS Pretty Pink Posh Release Promo - 26 July.jpg

A darling release, Summer Circles, by Pretty Pink Posh exclusively for the Essentials by Ellen Summer of Stamping is now available in the shop and we’re hopping on Instagram with some FAB inspo and prizes to be won!

To enter the giveaways, follow the hop, which begins HERE on the Ellen Hutson Instagram and leave some comment love along the way!

Below, I’m sharing still shots of the projects I created for the release page with this set—I’m so pleased with how they turned out!

The beach-themed images in the set are so fun! I watercolored the images before cutting them out with the matching die (sentiment borrowed from Good Day) I’ve been watercoloring most of my projects of late, but this would also be adorable if you white embossed the images on bright colors of card stock and kept the same layout!

I ink blended Limoncello ink onto some Color Me Strips for a quick and easy accent. BOOM!!!

These images and the matching dies are just begging to be made into shaker tags! Used these adorable tiny gold and iridescent stars for the bits inside—love how they sparkle! (borrowed and attached the “hanging tag” from the Shaker Globe)

More of those Color Me Strips used here, but scroll down to the final photo and you’ll see this card has a super fun twist to it!

I used the “sun” shaped and circle dies that coordinate with the stamp set to create this window on the front panel for the sunshine to peek through! It’s nigh impossible to see that detail in a flat-lay, so I tried to take an angled shot this way so you could see the fun peek-a-boo effect! AND, heck yeah, it still will fit into a standard A-2 envelope for mailing! (fist pump)

CAN YOU HEAR ME MONKEY CLAPPING???!!!

If you haven’t yet, you can subscribe to email updates (scroll down to the bottom of the page, on the right) so you’ll be notified when I blog the next release’s samples.

NEW EBE JULY 2019 RELEASE HOP

Ellen Hutson has a new release for the summer, with some super cute stamp sets by Brandi Kincaid and fun new dies! We’re hoppin’ to share it! My project features a fun window design with an aquatic theme, using Subbing In

Used one of the Waves Dies to create a mask and blend ink over to create my ocean on my base card—the sub was stamped and white embossed on sunny yellow card stock and then die cut out—windows were die cut separately from the sub and then I traced the windows from the sub onto the front of the card so I’d know where to put the dies to cut

After gluing the sub in place, I lightly traced the window openings again, so I’d know where to stamp Jelly inside the card—so cute to have her peeking through the window! Erased the pencil lines before I started coloring.

Sea critters get me every time . . .

RIGHT UP THERE

It's hard to tell in the shot, but there's a lotta glittery sparkles on this window card--it's all over the rainbow, Unicorn's mane and tail, the bottom of those poufy clouds.  I wish it were easier to capture sparkle on camera.

Used the •uber• cool Infinity Cloud dies by Hero Arts to make my window, which was then lined with a piece of tulle (instead of acetate) to float the elements on.

Any time I see a fab basic shape like this in a nested set, it has to come live at my house.  I can't resist the potential.  I love the saying on this card (from the Pure Magic set); makes me smile--how could you not, if a friend sent you a card that said this??? I mean, come on...
