FUN BIRTHDAY CARD FOR GIRLS - CATHERINE POOLER

catherine-pooler-hop-slider.jpg

Welcome! So glad you’re here for the Catherine Pooler blog hop! Be sure to take note at the bottom of my post for giveaway info!

I’m sharing a fun and colorful birthday card today that I think any girl would get a kick out of! Brace yerself for a flash-back to the 1980’s and 90’s—this card was totally inspired by the Lisa Frank Sticker and Stationery products, sooooooo very popular way back when!

I thought that rainbow paper from the Totally Rad collection, die cut into a Big City, would make such a great background for the roller skates!

I used the EH Swing N’ Slide Dies to make a penny slider channel for the skates to go back and forth on as you tilt the card. Of course, I had to add lots Stickles, right?! “This birthday card is too sparkly!”, said no one ever.

3 SIMPLE AND SWEET NEW BABY CARDS - PRETTY PINK POSH

pretty-pink-posh-slider.jpg

Welcome to the Pretty Pink Posh Hop! You can see their latest release at this link: PRETTY PINK POSH SPRING 2020

I have 3 darling but simple new baby cards to inspire you with!

ppp-baby-trio-grp.JPG

For whatever reason, I was drawn to yellow and mint for this trio’s color combo.

ppp-baby-trio-001.JPG

Images were white embossed onto white card stock, and then ink blended over the top, before die cutting. Just a little bit of scoring on the base card adds a nice bit of texture and interest, don’t you think?

ppp-baby-trio-002.JPG

The little lamb was embossed with Fallen Leaves Versafine Clair ink and clear detail powder onto watercolor paper and then watercolored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

“Baby” was die cut 3x from yellow card stock and stacked together; after gluing onto the card, I coated the top with a Clear NUVO Glitter Gloss Brush Pen—wish that had shown up on camera better, but you get the idea.

Read on for some fun giveaway info and links to all the EH Ambassadors playing along!

My friends over at Flora & Fauna are celebrating 3 years!

They have a big sale going on to celebrate—20% off Mar 19-23, with code: birthday3

I love how the butterfly white embossed on black POPS against that colorful flower. I used Fresh Inks in Peach, Tomato Red, Celery and Basil for this one.

Just watercolored (with Kuretake Gansai Tambi) some patches of green in various hues and then gold embossed this gorgeous leafy stem onto vellum; it’s secured to the card front with glue dots—the line details really help conceal those glue dots nicely!

OK . . . my name is liar—I actually had FOUR cards, but I forgot to grab the fourth one to shoot. I’ll shoot and share it another day—not sure why I forgot it, but hey, it’s crazy times right now, right?! Anyway, I took part of my third card and used it on this one above. I’ll give you a hint: I used a particular EH die that made pulling this off super easy . . .

Hope you’re staying healthy during this time, and maybe getting an opportunity to craft and make cards!

RAINBOWS AND FLAT BOTTOM CLOUDS

2020-03-essentialsOVALS-jebersole-002A.JPG

When I used the oval frames for this project, I had all the solid shapes leftover, providing the perfect opportunity for this design!

I cut all the ovals in half, white embossed the sentiment, then stamped the heart over top. Buffed off the residual ink sitting on top of the embossing from the heart. Then I stacked all the ovals together, slightly imperfectly, as is my usual custom.

BTW, I highly recommend using a DETAIL embossing powder for these types of sentiments for crisp results—the image lines are finer and regular grind powders can obliterate/blur the lines.

Inks, whether dye or pigment, have a tendency to “sit” on the surface of Card Shoppe card stocks (they’re a deliciously heavier weight than most, at 100#) so I decided to heat emboss the sentiment, and stamp the heart AFTERWARDS so that I wouldn’t have powder sticking to the heart. If you have extra time, you could do it in reverse, heat set the heart, then pounce it with anti-static powder to make sure it’s thoroughly dry before stamping and embossing the sentiment. I figured I’d rather save time, since the end results would be pretty much the same anyway.

I love how the Essentials Squares enabled me to create a gold foil frame that gives the illusion of an additional layer, but no bulk. Clouds were popped up with foam tape to match the height of the rainbow itself—when you stack that many layers, it does get a bit thick/chunky, but IMHO, totally worth the end result and it’s actually still mailable!

I’m totally making another rainbow card with the other half of these ovals . . . EEP!!!

Have a fab day!

If you haven’t seen it, I was a guest on the Ellen Hutson Blog on Saturday, and shared a process video (←link) for how to make this super fun shaker with the rainbow bursting out of the Mondo OMG die—How ‘bout dem Essential Ovals?!?! Am I right?! •monkey clapping•

My next share below was an offshoot of this and it turned out even more adorable than I imagined!

That Swirl Background makes my head spin with all the ideas I wanna use it for! It’s quite hypnotizing!

And look at my little Circus Elephant!!! I was going to color him, but he just “popped” the way he was in black and white, so I sat on my hands. I think that was a good move on my part.

You did spy my alternative use of the OMG die on this one, right?! •wink• I felt kinda clever—just a little bit, mind you.

Alrighty—Thanks for leaving some comment love and off you go to the next stop! Hop Roster is listed right below and, may the odds be ever in your favour . . .
