ENGAGED

Cliché? Alright already!!! I don’t care!!! •hair flip• It is STILL such a super cute way to congratulate someone on their engagement!

“Painted” the nails with a Copic Marker—struggling to remember what color it was, but my best guess, based on my collection of Copics, is that it was either Salmon Red, or Coral.

It’s hard to tell on camera, but I actually drew “bling rays” radiating outward from the hand using the clear Shimmer Pen, and also put a coating of the same on the red nails. And, holy crow, those White Rhinestones make the poifect rock for that ring finger! •wink•

The finished card measures 3.5 x 5” (a.k.a. a 4-bar notecard). As an A-2 the balance looked off but when you scale it down like this, it just feels right to the eyes.

Thanks for stopping by today!

TALL HIGH FIVE

I love words—cards—that encourage and support. Who doesn’t need a little of that now & again? This one was ridiculous fun to make!

I die cut the larger hand from the Hands Die Set through a quarter sheet of kraft card stock, then placed it onto a cutting mat and used a craft knife to cut and extend the hand, creating an upstretched arm.

Drew some stripes with a white gel pen onto a scrap of black card stock to resemble a shirt sleeve and glued that behind the hand/arm opening. Trimmed off the bottom so it was flush with the kraft panel.

3D mounted this to a pale pink base card. Good grief, by this point, there was a lotta chortling and monkey clapping already going on… good times, good times…

Stamped and stapled the banner then added some of those black star sequins and…

BOOM!

Love this card so much I could marry it!!!

WAVING HELLO WOBBLER

Hi, hello, how are ya’?

I’ve been offline the last few weeks due to a family emergency, but I’m back now. While I was away, the December Release launched and I’ve had these samples sitting on my work desk, waiting to be photographed. Finally had a chance to do that and will be sharing them over the coming days.

This “waving hello” design seemed apropos today. •insert smile•

The hand die cut is mounted onto a Mini Action Wobbler so it bobs around, literally waving hello. LOL!

The little heart die cuts were garnished with a Shimmer Pen. And that long, funky scallop border? I just glued a series of them from the Scallops Die, lined up end to end, trimming off the extra at the bottom of the card front. I felt so clever! •fist pump•

I don’t know how anyone could be uncheered if they received this one in the snail mail!

I’m sooooo behind on my holiday preparations. My tree is up. But it’s still not decorated…

ACK!!!

Happy weekend…!

NEW EBE RELEASE DEC 2018

IG-DEC2018-AVAILNOW-1.jpg

Hey, hey! I did some of the stamps and dies in the latest Essentials by Ellen release—you can see all the new stuff here: DECEMBER 2018 RELEASE PAGE

Love LOVE LOVE all the words. YASSSSS!!!

The EH Design Ambassadors are sharing ideas and inspo and you can find links to those over on the Ellen Hutson Blog today, so be sure to pop over there so you can get your fill of eye candy! •wink•

I don’t wanna say I’m obsessed with the Hands Die set , but frankly, I am. If you watch The Story Behind The Stamps , you’ll totally get why.

If you missed the measurements for this particular tri-fold, I cut my card stock to 5.5 x 11”, and scored at 3 5/8” from each short end. The “open” end of the dies (where the arms begin), are positioned about 1/8”-1/4” from the score lines, factoring in the slight tilt.

I love that you can still see the effect of the hands from inside the card because they’re not just die cut and glued on the card front. •fist pump•

I’m still fumbling around with what to call the closure on the hug style card.

  • Interlocking? It kinda does that. And kinda not.

  • Buckle? Sorta buckles… Back in the day—we’re talking eons— I think we called this type of closure a buckle.

  • Double Buckle? Maybe… It does sorta buckle twice…

  • Tuck & Fold? Definitely tucks. Definitely folds. Twice. Hmmmmm. A Double Tuck & Fold. But, it’s not nearly as fun to say as “Double Buckle”. •sheepish shrug•

In any event, it’s a fun and easy card to make. And who couldn’t use a hug, even if it’s made from paper?

Another variation of the same tri-fold/buckle/tuck-n-fold but with just one of the hands, embellished with some snippets of black and white card stock to resemble a shirt sleeve. Sentiment is from the Hang On Stamp Set.

Inside sentiment: Totally Random Sayings, Vol. 2

Measurements: 5.5 x 11” card base, score at 3 3/4” from each short side.

I just adore words—TEXT— so so much! Makes the nerd in me quite giddy. And I’m not ashamed to say it. #wordnerdsunite

So… do you have a fondness for the same?

Some of you may or may not know the story of Ellen and I… So, I’m copying and pasting a post I wrote a couple of years ago on my old blog here, because every word I said then holds true to this day:

THE STORY OF ELLEN & JULIE

LINK:  splitcoaststampers.com

Brace y’selves; it’s about to get sappy.  But in a goodly way. :)

Ellen and I have been chums for a long time, first “meeting” on Splitcoaststampers.com where we were delighted to discover we lived in the same state, and within a few hours’ travel time! One day, Ellen invited me to her home for lunch plus an afternoon of stamping and cardmaking.  I will never forget that day–it was a blast and she endeared herself to me instantly because of her friendly, open demeanor, her warm, happy spirit and boundless enthusiasm!

When she launched Ellen Hutson LLC, I was excited for her and very much in awe and admiration–it takes a lot of courage to turn a dream into a reality.  And, yes, hard work.  LOTS of hard work.

As her company has grown and blossomed, my respect and admiration has only deepened–because I know the heart of the woman behind the company; her desire and commitment to help other individuals that work with her, alongside her, within this industry, to achieve and succeed is unparalleled.  I’m thankful for the faith she has put in me, and all her encouragement…  I thank my lucky stars daily that I get to call her colleague AND dearly loved friend.

I’m so gosh darn proud of her, I could bust!

Congratulations, Ellen and Team, for rocking the last TWELVE years and here’s to many more! ❤️

I was going for a a mod holly look. How’d I do?

My holiday card stash is just about complete, but if you’re lookin’ for more holiday inspo, I have an online workshop listed over in my shop that might interest you, called Making Merry ⬅︎

Meantime, it’s MONDAY already! How’d that happen???!!!

Cheers!
